Baptism
Why do we need baptism?
Because Holy Scripture teaches us that every human being needs the saving grace of Jesus Christ. we learn from the Word of God that all people from the fall of Adam and Eve are made and born in sin. Because of that sin, we are under the wrath of God and would be lost forever. Even a child, then, is by nature sinful. Paul says in Romans, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (3:23). |
Why does God give us baptism?
Because He loves us and wants to save us. The Father of all mercy and grace has promised to save us and sent His Son Jesus Christ, who was punished for the sins of the whole and has saved us all, even little children, from sin, death, and everlasting punishment. In the Gospel of John, Jesus says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life,” (3:16).
So we offer baptism just as Christ commanded His Church to do. Jesus says in Matthew, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” (28:19).
