Discipleship

At Bethel, our mission is to help people be disciples - life-long learners & followers of Jesus Christ. Discipleship means God awakening disciples from head knowledge of the faith to "heart life."

A "disciple" is one who is walking on the road with Jesus to find out about Him; a seeker of divine Wisdom; a follower of Jesus; a learner; even from the very moment that someone begins asking questions about Jesus, they are on the path of discipleship.

Legislative Advocacy 101 (Restore Justice Illinois)
Wednesday, May 4
10AM-Noon
Sign of the Dove, Waukegan

Restore Justice has been a friend of Pastor Squires and Bethel since we got involved in advocating for some youth in Lake County charged with felony murder. They have shared a lot of perspective on how the criminal justice system needs reform, especially if our hope is to help people be transformed rather than just punished.

You may or may not be led to advocate for change in Springfield, but this training is meant to help us understand the basics of how our legislative system works. This will inform our prayers, conversation, advocacy in our community, and how to be salt and light in our society.
Register now and join Pastor Squires at this great opportunity.

Here’s a description from Restore Justice about this training:
During our trainings, you will learn about the legislative process in Illinois and how a bill really becomes a law, develop skills to navigate Springfield, and build support for issues that matter to you.

These FREE trainings are open to individuals and organizations interested in advancing change in our state through the legislative process in Springfield. While our focus is on criminal legal reform, we try to make our training useful for any issue. If you would like custom training for your organization or network, please contact Lindsey Hammond at lhammond@restorejustice.org.
