What to Expect
We invite you to join us in worship and to celebrate the “Good News” of Jesus Christ with a welcoming congregation that includes young and old, experienced and new to the faith. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ, and our services incorporate youth, men and women to assist with different aspects of our worship program.
Bethel Lutheran Church is easy to find—just east of the entrance to Six Flags Great America on Grand Avenue in Gurnee. Please feel free to dress casually or dress up; we want you to feel comfortable when you worship and you will always be greeted warmly by our greeters, ushers, and Elders. |
Our schedule parallels the school year to make worship more accessible for families. Typically, from September through May, worship services take place on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Our early service is larger, so we hold it in the gym. Our late service and Some of our Wednesday night services are held in the sanctuary, which is smaller and more intimate. All services include liturgies (traditional orders of service) and organ-led hymns and songs. Each service lasts around one hour.
COVID Update: We currently have one service at 9:00 a.m. in the gym on Sunday morning following the latest CDC and local Heath Department regulations. We hope to return to our regular schedule in the near future.
During the summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day), our worship schedule changes to Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and Sundays at 9 a.m. The Thursday service is the same as the service on the following Sunday. Thursday services allow you to worship before heading out of town for the weekend, while Sunday services occur earlier to allow you to enjoy God’s Creation the rest of the day.
