Pastor will draw on his writing and photography in order to share his experiences with the congregation. The congregation will be asked to also record the ways they see God at work during the sabbatical, including insights and experiences of faith formation and leadership. These moments could be written and submitted to the church staff for publication, or short video interviews can be conducted. Pastor and the congregation will then have 3 formal times in order to share their experiences with each other:
Sunday Morning Bible Study - Sabbatical Reflections
December 6 and 13, 2020
On the first two Sundays when Pastor is back from leave, we will use the Sunday Morning Adult Bible Study to participate in some activities that will allow the congregation and Pastor to share what we have experienced and learned. Additional opportunities for conversation can grow out of these times together (coffee conversations, meet with specific groups, etc.) This reflection time will be aided by Pastor's journaling and the congregation's own recording of experiences.
January Gathering Time
Saturday, January 9, 2021
Pastor, staff, congregation members, and the interim pastor will be invited to meet offsite for a day-long retreat. We will do a deeper dive on what we've learned and experienced in the renewal time. Pastor Squires' sharing may be organized around the outline of his sabbatical, while congregational sharing could primarily be related to the two specific renewal activities as noted in the Congregation's Experience, along with any major moments in the life of the congregation (deaths, crises, new believers, etc.).
